The Hemwall Center for Orthopedic Regenerative Medicine specializes in treating chronic pain and sports injuries using Prolotherapy, Platelet Rich Plasma Prolotherapy and Biocellular Prolotherapy. Our staff is highly trained and focused to deliver cutting edge regenerative medicine techniques, but with old fashioned compassion and caring.
The first step is to schedule a consultation. The doctor will take a history and do an examination, including ultrasound, of your problem areas, in order to arrive at a diagnosis. Having a correct diagnosis is the key to the correct treatment. Some soft tissue problems may not show up on MRI or X-ray, but can still cause pain. And sometimes problems detected on an MRI or X-ray are not actually the cause of your pain. Therefore it is important to correlate the diagnostic images with your pain location and pattern. The doctor is extremely experienced and expert at doing this. We also use state of the art diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging to more accurately locate the origin of a problem. This can be done in the office, and has the advantage of allowing the doctor to move the joint during the examination if needed. This improves accuracy in diagnosis because some problems which only occur during movement may not show up on MRI or X-ray which take static (not moving) pictures.
After the doctor has examined you and determined a working diagnosis she will let you know if Prolotherapy, Platelet Rich Plasma Prolotherapy or Biocellular Prolotherapy, are an option for you. An additional benefit is the doctor's background as an osteopathic physician which allows her to look even deeper at the musculoskeletal system and how your body works as a whole. Once the diagnosis is made and the options are discussed and explained, and if you are a candidate for treatment, you can often receive the treatment on the same day as the consultation.
